Lady Gaga
wants to make sure you know she's very excited about her two Oscar nominations
for A Star is Born. But after fans wondered why she didn't immediately respond
to the news, the singer explained to The New York Times on Wednesday (Jan. 23)
that she slept through the announcement because she's on "showbiz
time."
In fact,
she didn't even get the news until three hours after the rest of the world
found out that she's up for best actress and best song for "Shallow,"
her duet with her co-star/director, Bradley Cooper. “I’ve been trying to get
some sleep because I’m on showbiz time,” Gaga told the paper, explaining that
she's in Los Angeles for a few days while on a a break from her Las Vegas
Enigma residency and that she slept in on Tuesday morning (Jan. 22) and missed
announcements when they were read just after five a.m. on the West Coast.
“I woke up
around 8:30 and I didn’t know anything about it,” she said, adding that she
likely missed the avalanche of congratulation texts and calls because she can
"sleep through just about anything." Once she woke up, though, she
immediately called her manager and got the news, which caused her to "just
burst into tears.”
